Learn in a way that best meets your learning style. Get a free education that is tailored to your needs. Maidu courses meet California A-G requirements and are standards aligned. How does it work? You will enroll in at least three courses choosing from online courses, blended courses, and traditional independent study courses. Then you can choose to enrich or focus on a particular vocational path in the form of work experience or a vocational learning path opportunity. You can also choose to enroll in the 49er ROP for career and technical courses offered to students in Placer and Nevada Counties. As a high school student you can co-enroll at Sierra College for academic enrichment. As a Maidu student, part of the Placer Union High School District, you are also eligible to co-enroll with any of our four comprehensive high schools for enrichment and lab courses.
What about social opportunities?
As a student at Maidu you can choose from many social activities that are available to you. You can sign up for place-based educational day field trips, as they come up on the calender. You can even choose to sign up for one of the three day cross curricular field trips that take place several times a year. There will be plenty of adventures planned in each school year.
You can also choose to participate in either blended online courses or join a small group courses to meet up with your fellow students. If you are interested in leadership you can choose to serve on the School Site Council, and/or Student Government at Maidu High School. You also have the opportunity to co-enroll in courses and club activities at the comprehensive campuses.
Freedom is Learning
When you attend Maidu you have the freedom of choice. You have the freedom to move ahead at your own pace as long as you meet your minimum weekly goals set with you advisor. You have the choice of taking all of your courses online or just the ones you want to. Taking your courses online has many advantages. You can do your school work at the best time of the day for you. You can work from any location that provides Internet connectivity. If there are courses that you need more support in, such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, or Geometry, you can take advantage of our tutoring program or come to a small class that meets each week.
